Teatre Malic and  Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona ( CCCB), present together with MultiSounds, November 3rd and 4th  the most recent version of Danish soundartist Jakob Draminsky Højmark's installation opera "aN eMPTY sPACE? - songtales for a public site".

"aN eMPTY sPACE?" is an 8 channel sonic environment based on one of the latest computer realtime sound manipulation tools: MAX/MSP.

A total of 250 multi-tongue voice files, composed and recorded as part of a long artistic process centered on concepts of de- and reconstruction makes up the sounds source for this abstract, epic experience.

"aN eMPTY sPACE?" was originally concieved for Nikolaj, Center of Contemporary Art in Copenhagen and presented in two versions: one stationary in the Tower Gallery of Nikolaj and a second mobile one, mounted at 14 public sites in and around Copenhagen in May 2000.

Christine Schøtt"aN eMPTY sPACE?"  will also be audible in two versions at the CCCB.

From 12:00 - 14:00 and from 16:00 - 18:00 a stationery version like the one in Nikolaj will be sounding at the courtyard of CCCB and from 19:00 to 20:00 a completly new version commisioned by Festival d'Opera de Butxaca 2000 (The Pocket Opera Festival) will be presented.

This new version - v.3 - makes use of extreme digital sound manipulation of the original recorded material to create a soundscape in which a live opera singer appears.

The live voice is performed in Spanish by Danish singer Christine Schøtt while the composer controls the computer keyboard and the mouse......

Entrance is free.
