landsoldats dagbog". Ved uropførelsen i Barcelona 1995
skrev pressen bl.a.: ".. it is above all the music, sober
and solemn, which has created a severe and intense spiritual and
aesthetic experience."
"En landsoldats dagbog" is an
electroacoustic pocket opera based on 9 diary qoutes from the
danish Painter J. Th. Lundbye made during his foot journey in
the area of north Sealand with his fellow painter Skovgård in
the summer 1842. Lundbye describes very nutrally what they see
and what is happening on the journey, it is completly free of
references to his family and his impossible love relation to the
daughter of a wealthy farmer, which the rest of the diary is
full of. But close to the end of the journey he reveals, that in
fact his thoughts the most of the time were with his beloved
Louise...
This part of the Lundbye diary, which he kept from March 1842 to
april 1843, gives inspiration to an anonymous individual
journey, where thoughts , memoirs anddreams appear. The main
characterin the piece is not supposed to be Lundbye, but
represents any searching, experiencing person. Likewise the
story is not an attempt to reproduce the journey in a
naturalistic mannner...
